A building with history
130 years of hospitality
The Eppanerhof, previously called Hammersbach, opened its doors to guests as early as 1892 and was therefore part of the tourist developments in Eppan from the very start. The hotel’s 130-year history has been eventful. In addition to overnight accommodation and food, there was also a wide range of social entertainment with music and dancing, games and fun as well as various courses, which attracted guests of all kinds: from authors to nobles and philosophers, countless important personalities stayed within these walls. The Eppanerhof has always stood for bringing people together and even though a lot has changed over the decades, our hospitality, warmth and openness have remained unchanged.

Eppan leisure paradise
On a discovery tour in South Tyrol’s sunny south
Hiking adventure
The idyllic wine village of Eppan is an excellent starting point for a variety of hikes in the surrounding mountains. Leisurely valley and forest hikes alternate with challenging climbs. The Mendel mountains, visible from the apartment building, invite you to take beautiful panoramic hikes with a panoramic view of Bozen and the surrounding mountains. The Mendel pass can also be easily reached using the historic cable car from the neighbouring village of Kaltern. In addition, mountains such as the Schlern, the Rosengarten area, the Schwarzhorn and Weißhorn or the entire Dolomites area are easily accessible from Eppan with countless opportunities for varied hikes.
Cycling holiday
The village of Eppan and its surroundings are an ideal place to stay for cycling holidaymakers. Fun is guaranteed with a mountain bike over forest trails, to the nearest swimming lake or through the vineyards. You can explore all directions with your racing bike along the asphalted cycle path; all options are open to cycling enthusiasts as far as the Brenner pass, Lake Garda or Merano. Or perhaps you would prefer to take an e-bike ride to the nearest alpine hut to be pampered with South Tyrolean delicacies. During your varied cycling holiday in the sunny south of South Tyrol, you have the choice!
Bathing fun
There are several bathing lakes in the surroundings of Eppan that invite you to a day full of relaxation and swimming fun. The Montiggler lakes are only a few kilometres away from us and are easily accessible by private vehicle, city bus or bike. The smaller and larger swimming lakes are surrounded by a deep green forest with a dense network of walking and hiking trails. The lakes are easily accessible from the shore, but you can also spend a relaxing day in the outdoor pool with a sunbathing lawn and restaurant. In the neighbouring village Kaltern, on the other hand, you will find Lake Kaltern, the warmest bathing lake in the Alps, which also promises a nice day with its beautiful seaside resorts, restaurants, cafés and walking paths. However, nothing will stand in the way of relaxing bathing days indoors: for example, go to the Meran thermal baths or the Acquarena in Brixen!
Family holidays
The Eppanerhof is an excellent place to stay your family holiday. Eppan and the surrounding area offer many entertaining leisure activities for holidays with children and young people. For example, spend a day at Lake Montiggler swimming, pedal boating, walking and eating ice cream. Or enjoy a few action-packed hours of archery in the 3D archery course in the wooded area above the castle! An exciting and unforgettable experience in the fresh air is guaranteed here! Another recommended excursion destination for the whole family, which will definitely delight the little ones, is the Raingutshof in Tisens with its pet zoo! There are also lots of things for young people to discover in our area. A trip to one of the two escape rooms in St. Michael in Eppan is more than just an outstanding idea for when the weather is bad: both young and old are guaranteed to have fun solving the puzzles! In addition, there are always festivals and events in our local area where our teen guests are sure to have fun, such as the wine festival in Kaltern or the village festival in St. Pauls.
City flair
The village idyll of Eppan is always relaxing and perfect for a refreshing holiday. For those who like something a little more active, the next city is not far away: the provincial capital of Bozen with its arcades, squares and beautiful cafés, restaurants and boutiques offers all kinds of options for an entertaining day with urban flair. The thermal town of Meran can also be reached quickly from Eppan and offers a wide range of options for leisure activities, be it a delicious aperitif in a cosy café, an ice cream sundae on the Passer promenade, a shopping trip in the city centre or a walk on one of the many promenades with Mediterranean flair. Spend a day in one of these Tyrolean towns with an Italian atmosphere – you will be glad you did.
Christmas magic
Christmas time in South Tyrol is something very special. Towns and villages are transformed into a festively decorated sea of lights smelling of Christmas biscuits and traditional market stalls are set up everywhere. Stroll through the Christmas markets in Bozen or Meran, taste South Tyrolean Christmas specialities and buy beautiful souvenirs. The Eppan district of St. Pauls is also worth a visit during the Christmas season with the nativity scene exhibition scattered throughout the streets. In addition to the larger Christmas markets in the cities, there are also smaller Christmas markets in many villages in our area where handicrafts and all kinds of lovingly made souvenirs are sold. South Tyrol is definitely a good place to soak up the pre-Christmas idyll and get into the festive mood.
